Course Description
What does the new tax law mean for you? What should you be doing NOW to prepare to file your 2017 taxes and what will be different in 2018? Lisa Cafferty, CPA, Chief Financial Officer for NYT Bestselling author Marie Force, will give a bird’s-eye view of what authors should be thinking about as we absorb the implications of the new tax legislation.

What we will cover:
  1. A summary of the tax bill and how it pertains to you as a sole proprietor or as a corporation
  2. A breakdown of what it means, depending on how you file your taxes
  3. What you should be thinking about as you finalize your taxes for 2017
  4. What you should prepare for as we move into 2018, and how the new tax law impacts estimated quarterlies, deductions, etc.
  5. Other challenges to be aware of as we move forward
What we WON’T provide:
  1. Individual tax advice
  2. Tax advice at the state or local level
On Feb. 15, we will present a high-level view of the current federal tax situation and how it impacts individual authors, whether they are incorporated or not. On Feb. 15 and 16, Lisa will take any questions you may have.
