The American Obesity Treatment Association states that morbid obesity is a chronic disease that manifests as a steady, slow, progressive increase in body weight. Because of both emotional and physical reasons, obese people resist pursuing healthcare and may be more difficult to care for. A practical approach, using an interdisciplinary team is invaluable.
The 2nd Annual Bariatric Summit emphasizes that with its core message “Collaborative Care”.
Spend a day learning about the latest medical, surgical, and behavioral approaches to the bariatric patient. The summit provides topics for all health care providers to benefit from as these patients need a team approach for a disease that needs multifaceted therapy.
This conference will offer insights to effective management of obese patients, surgical complications, obesity in adolescence, the psychology of eating and the mechanisms of diabetes control in the post surgical patient. A lecture specifically devoted to the duodenal switch procedure will be held.
